Phillip B. Williams to Walk the Red Carpet at NAACP Image Awards

Visiting faculty member in literature Phillip B. Williams has been nominated for an NAACP Image Award for his first book of poems, Thief in the Interior (Alice James Books). In a recent round up of "30 Poets You Should Be Reading" on Lit Hub, the critic Adam Fitzgerald writes, “[Williams’] lyricism is full of interruptions—into and out of history, in and out of metaphor, in and out of the violence of being a body.”

A press release for the awards ceremony states: "The NAACP Image Awards celebrates the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film and also honors individuals or groups who promote social justice through creative endeavors."

The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on Saturday, February 11th at 9PM.
